I’m off to be a hen.

Or should that be support the hen?

I’ve never been on a hen weekend before, but tomorrow I’m off to Bristol to enjoy a couple of nights out, a pole dancing lesson, spa treatment and hopefully some good honest girly silliness! All in aid of my good friend Manda’s impending nuptuals.

Will post any amusing photos up soon!

Don’t Let the Beautiful Game Turn Ugly

Here’s a viral video produced for the World Cup to try and prevent domestic violence and drunken behaviour, on behalf of Staffordshire Police.

My contribution? The end line – “Don’t Let the Beautiful Game Turn Ugly”.

A neat little idea for Audi efficiency

I was browsing bannerblog when I came across this banner for Audi efficiency Canada.

You’re asked to put the name of your favourite film in the field, then it tells you the story in less than 140 characters (what could be more efficient?)

If it doesn’t know your film you’re invited to add your own synopsis, meaning it keeps on growing. A neat idea that could be used on any topic.

I now see Baker Street in a whole new light.

I’ve recently been hooked on the latest version of Sherlock Holmes, three 1.5 hour films from the BBC which put a brand new spin on the old Arthur Conan Doyle books. In the series, if you missed it, the brilliant Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman play Sherlock & Dr Watson respectively, fighting crime as ‘consultant detectives’ living and working in modern-day London.

For someone like myself who’s relatively new to Sherlock Holmes (apart from Guy Richie’s high budget flick) this series was a great introduction.  Fast paced, witty and dialogue driven, the script was the perfect platform for Benedict Cumberbatch’s cutting, “quirky genius” character (who, I suspect had a few ladies swooning).

Martin Freeman reliably provided his usual “comedy underdog” performance as Dr Watson – acting as the perfect foil to Sherlock’s quick mind and even quicker wit.

All this, combined with some interesting visual techniques (like text overlaid across the action – giving us insight into Sherlock’s mind), and a few good villains made Sherlock a must-see every Sunday.

Another series has been commissioned – more than 3 next time I hope!

A jog across the Thames…

I broke a habit of a lifetime today and actually went for a jog at lunchtime! Rose and two other Kitcatt-ers joined me for a slow but steady (mainly because of me!) 4-5K , done in just over 35 minutes. It’s somewhere to start though, hopefully we’ll keep it up.

Anyway  - the picture above caught my eye when I was trying to plot how far we’d gone – check out the cool shadows of the buildings along the Thames. I’ve never noticed that before on Google Maps.

Loving the unintentional artiness!

Don’t Go Zombie

The guys at Elvis Communications and Virgin Trains have been busy creating this little beauty. To reiterate the luxury and ease of Virgin Trains the streets have been taken over by frustrated car-driving zombies who need to be saved. They have to get to the comfort of a virgin train and only the player can help them with a special ticket machine. The player has to get to specific destinations by following the map, saving zombies on the way. On arrival at the destination the player is required to fill in their personal details to enter a draw to win a monthly prize. If the player is caught by a zombie, they’ll be ‘zombified’ and their facebook friends will be invited to rescue you. Play it here.

It’s time to talk A/W 2010!

My style crush for A/W 2010 has to be the Burberry Prorsum Shearling jacket, as seen here on the catwalk. It’s fair to say that the aviator jacket is going to be the key piece of the season and a complete must have (although this particular one may be a little out of my price range at over £2,000!)

And it doesn’t stop there – if you don’t want to go the whole hog with a jacket, you could treat yourself to a shearling bag like this ASOS one, a shearling gilet like this Topshop one or some shearling boots like these ones from River Island (you’re gonna have to just go to ‘boots’ from this main page – bloody flash sites!).

Probably best not to wear them all together though – I think “double shearling” will be a long time coming!
